Shake your maracas!

For sometime now clients, friends and my lovely neighbour Karen has been recommending that I try Zumba! Time can be an issue for me as my workload often dictates when I am free to attend classes. I caught an info-mercial on TV a few weeks ago and was persuaded to part with £39 for a selection of Zumba dvd's and more importantly some shakers (just like shaking you maracas!!!).
I eagerly awaited by box of goodies and immediately put one of the dvd's on to try! I had my grandson with me at the time and he was not the least bit impressed as I shook my booty and rocked my groove...! I think user error may have been at fault as I have had a slightly tricky hip and a dull ache in the small of my back since. It would appear that my girating along with Beto, the founder of Zumba may have been a little too enthusiastic for a first attempt!
However, I am not one to give up easily so I will persevere and see where the rhythm takes me....!
This is what Zumba UK says:
The Zumba program fuses mesmerising Latin rhythms and easy-to-follow dance steps combined with workout moves to create a unique fitness program that will blow you away. The music gets your feet tapping and your heart thumping! Mixing all Latin genres of music with all Latin styles of dance such as Salsa, Merengue, Mambo, Samba, Cha Cha, Cumbia, Reaggaeton, Flamenco even Bollywood and more. Zumba is all about the music, dancing and having fun. Zumba enthusiasts achieve long-term benefits while experiencing a total blast in one exciting hour of calorie-burning, body-energizing, awe-inspiring movements meant to engage and captivate for life! It’s ridiculous not to be captivated by this Zumba craze! This is the new fitness hype all around the world! Not only does Zumba help you remain active, fresh and alive throughout the day, it decreases stress levels and makes you feel more energetic and happy. The best thing is that it helps you postpone the aging process, what a bonus!
Every Zumba lesson is one big party, you don’t even notice you are actually working out and losing weight, it’s just like going to the club! No demanding choreography! Zumba is there for everybodywho loves up tempo music. During the warming up you immediately get blown away by the invigorating Latin Dance music. Up tempo and slow rhythms interchange each other. Zumba is addictive and you want more each time.
Its early days but this is one bug I wouldn't mind being bitten by and if all else fails I can still shake my maracas!
Love and Blessings,
Jean Fisher-Taylor x
