Everytime you smile at someone, it is an action of love, a gift to that person, a beautiful thing. ~Mother Teresa
As you probably already know from my blog posts I am a Happiness Coach and this week I am sooo in to smiling. I love researching ideas, topics and material for these blogs and for my workshops. Sometimes inspiration comes from the smallest of ideas, a word, a conversation or a picture. I recently watched the film "Eat, Pray, Love" and was fascinated when the female lead was told to smile at her liver every day! This led me on a quest to find out more about smiling, the inner smile and smile meditations. (I really do LOVE my work!)
In a previous blog, I gave tips on Laughter Yoga and the health benefits that come from that. Smiling is a little more gentler and so much easier to do anywhere and anytime and without the noise! Smiling is the most contagious thing you can do with your face (yawning comes a very close second)!
These are 20 benefits:
A smile can...
- Start your day pleasantly.
- Make others understand you are in a good mood.
- Promote positivity in a work environment.
- Relax your face muscles.
- Make others put a smile on their face.
- Tell people that they are going to be okay.
- Makes you look a lot prettier or more handsome.
- Reduce all of that stress you might accumulate.
- Help your immune system work a lot better.
- Lower your blood pressure.
- Give you a child like innocence.
- Release serotonin, natural pain killers and endorphins thus making it a happy drug.
- Make you look younger.
- Fill you up with positivity and power.
- Show your understanding side.
- Say that you can be polite in the hardest of times.
- Help you live longer.
- Make you appreciate the little things in life.
- Make you look at the brighter side of a bad situation.
- Be contagious to all those around you.
A smile has more wonderful benefits that you could ever think about. I hope that after you’ve read this, you are smiling now so don’t let anything stop it because, according to research a smile is like eating 2000 bars of chocolate! (In the interests of research I am going to actually eat the 2000 bars of chocolate and report back if this is really true!!!).
Smile and have a fabulous day!
Love and Blessings,
Jean Fisher-Taylor x
